Positive Discipline Parenting

The Positive Discipline Parenting Scale has been designed to be easily used for effective positive discipline parenting plans.

A brief description of this scale is also attached. The scale has ten scales and includes Parent-child relationship, Communication, Responsibility, Positive Behavior, Rewards and Reinforcement, Respect, Understanding, and Support.

The first ten areas are all about the relationships between parents and children. The next two areas cover communication and responsibility. The next two areas cover positive behavior and reinforcement.

There are four dimensions to this positive discipline parenting plan and each one discusses a particular problem but not the solution.

These are as follows: Individual Needs and Learning Styles, Parental Control, School Environment, and classroom Management. Let us see what these do to solve problems.

Individual Needs and Learning Styles: This is an important area to focus on. Children learn in many ways and you as a parent can teach them through the eyes of their parents.

You have to learn what your child needs to know so that you can give it to them. For instance if your child is not interested in getting on the bus to school, tell him that he must be ready to go on the bus.

If he is adamant about going to school, then you should encourage him by providing alternative transportation so that he does go.

A clear example of this is the positive discipline for parents resource type.

If your son or daughter shows disrespect at home, then you should send them to their room and refuse to allow them to have any gatherings with the rest of their peers.

You should also teach them effective communication skills and encourage them to use positive verbal techniques at home.

In addition, you can make them aware of their personal power and how to develop their own personal power by setting examples and taking an assertive approach to dealing with others.

Problem Solving: Children are more likely to succeed when they are focused on a particular problem.

By teaching them problem solving skills, they will be able to solve problems in a more effective manner.

They will also be motivated to work towards solutions since they see that they can make a difference.

Parents need to take an active role by setting examples and implementing positive discipline for parents resource type.

Rewards and Punishments: Rewards are used to reinforce positive behaviors while consequences are used to dissuade undesired behavior.

When selecting appropriate rewards and consequences for your child, keep in mind that children do not learn by negative reinforcement.

They need to be rewarded in order to motivate them to act positively. It is important to remember that punishment should only be applied when your child exhibits inappropriate behavior.

For example, if your child brings home dirty clothes, then it is appropriate for you to take them aside and tell them to clean up the mess before taking their dinner money.

Parenting Style: There are many ways to approach discipline. Positive parenting incorporates a mix of positive discipline techniques, such as rewarding good behaviors with attention and praise, and punishing negative behaviors with consequences, suspensions and sometimes even severe punishment.

While there are different perspectives on how to parent, the most common positive discipline method is positive discipline parenting where the focus is on rewarding and reinforcing positive behavior rather than punishing or criticizing a child for any undesirable behavior.

With all the information on this site, it is easy to incorporate positive discipline parenting techniques into your daily life.

Remember that children learn from both parents and the environment that surrounds them. Therefore, the best thing that you can do is to set rules, enforce them, and then reward good behavior.

This will instill a positive cycle within your child and encourage them to focus on positive behavior rather than negative behavior.
